Today we spotlight our Roast Master’s African Savanna, a complex blend of African coffees.
The beans of our Roast Master’s African Savanna blend are comprised of an assortment of extraordinarily beautiful coffees from across the continent. Africa is known to produce some of the world’s most exquisite beans due to the high elevations and lush soil conditions in which they are grown. Seasonal rains in these areas help ensure coffee trees are well nourished and provide bountiful harvests. This particular blend is comprised of coffee from multiple growing regions in Africa—Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
Each of Africa’s regions boast different characteristics, but are all unanimously considered bright and balanced with a citrus, berry, winy or floral essence. Ethiopian coffee is split into three distinct coffee regions—Harrar, Sidamo and Yirgacheffe. Harrar coffees, which are typically dry processed, are sourced from old varietal coffee trees and recognized for their large body and fruity finish. Sidamo and Yirgacheffe coffees, which are wet processed, are known for having a floral and berry finish. Kenyan coffee has a sensational acidity and bright, citrusy cup. Tanzanian coffee is full in body, rich in flavor with subtle hints of fruit, while coffee from Rwanda is often delicate with a pleasant aroma and a subtleness of citrus. Lastly, Burundi coffee is well balanced with hints of acidity and boasts a clean, delicate flavor with sweet, citrus tastes.
Our Roast Master’s African Savanna blend is crafted beautifully into a medium body with distinct aromas and flavors of red fruit, raisin, mango and smooth caramel with a clean, satisfying finish.
The Roast Master’s African Savanna Blend pairs delectably well with a variety of sweet fruit desserts like fruit salad, apple pie, bananas foster, apple crisp and key lime pie and also fruit cobblers such as blackberry or blueberry cobbler.
